Gate Slide: a sliding block puzzle with colored exits
Gate Slide is a sliding block puzzle set in a wooden tray crowded with painted blocks, while the walls carry gates in matching colors. Drag a block and it slides until something stops it; push it into a gate of its own color and symbol, and it leaves the tray. The catch is the order: some blocks must step aside before others can get out, and a clock is ticking.

How to play
- Drag a block in any direction. It moves cell by cell and stops at anything in its way.
- Push it into a gate with the same color and symbol to send it out of the tray.
- Check the width: the gate's opening must be at least as wide as the block.
- Clear every block before the timer reaches zero to finish the level.
What it exercises
Every tray is a small exit puzzle and a logistics problem at once: which block goes first, and where do the others wait meanwhile?
Spatial planning
You picture where each block can travel and which cells it will pass through before you touch it.
Sequencing
Most trays have one sensible order. Spotting the block that unlocks the rest is the heart of each level.
Mental rotation
From level 11, L shapes, T shapes and long bars arrive, and you judge how each one fits past its neighbors toward a gate.
Tips
- Before moving anything, find the block that is already lined up with its gate and has a clear path. Start there.
- Use empty corners as parking spots for blocks that are in the way; in this color block puzzle a parked block can wait as long as you need.
- Narrow gates from level 51 only fit slim blocks. If a block is too wide, look for another gate of the same color.
- Frozen blocks from level 61 must be dragged a few times to melt before they can leave, so start melting them early.
- Blocks on rails, from level 81, slide only across or only up and down. Plan their exits first.
- Compared with a classic number slide puzzle game, the moves here are free-form, so do not rush the first drag.
- Freeze stops the clock for 10 seconds once per level, and it does not cost you a star.
Frequently asked questions
Can I play a sliding block puzzle online free?
Yes. Gate Slide works in the browser on phones, tablets and computers, and you never pay, install or sit through an ad.
Is there a block slide puzzle with no timer?
Every Gate Slide level has a clock, but it is generous on the early boards and the Freeze tool pauses it for 10 seconds. Breather levels, marked with a leaf on the level map, give you a looser tray.
Do the levels need a sliding block puzzle solver?
No outside help is needed. Every level was solved by a computer search when it was built, and its clock was set from the shortest solution, so each tray is beatable in time. If you get stuck, Hammer smashes one block and Vacuum lifts every block of one color, once per level each.
What are good sliding block puzzle tips for beginners?
Work backward from the gates: ask which block can leave now, and which blocks are stopping the others. Clear a little space first rather than trying to send out a big block straight away.
How many levels are there?
180. The first ten teach the rules, levels 11 to 50 add new shapes, the middle levels bring narrow gates, ice and rails, and from level 151 grand boards have layered blocks that peel to a second color after their first exit.
How do I get three stars?
Clear the tray with at least 40 percent of the clock left and without the Hammer or Vacuum. Finishing with 15 percent left earns two stars.
