Grid Clear: an 8x8 block puzzle game with 100 levels

How to play

1. Drag a block from the tray onto the grid; a ghost shows where it will land, and lines that would clear glow before you let go.
2. Fill a whole row or column to clear it. Clearing several at once gives a combo.
3. Place all three blocks to get a new set of three. Blocks never rotate.
4. The round ends when none of the blocks in your tray fits anywhere.

What it exercises

There is no timer in this line clearing puzzle, so every placement is a small, calm decision about space.

• Spatial reasoning

  You look at a shape and the empty squares and judge where it fits without turning it, because rotation is not allowed.

• Planning ahead

  Each block you place changes where the next two can go. Good players fill the tray in an order that keeps room for the awkward pieces.

• Risk control

  A 3x3 square or a five-long bar needs open space. Keeping that space free, rather than chasing every small clear, is a skill in itself.

Tips

• Keep at least one 3x3 area open; big squares are the usual reason a round ends.
• Clear on back-to-back placements to grow a streak multiplier up to x3. One quiet placement keeps the streak alive, a second one ends it.
• A single block can finish a row and a column together. Look for those crossings before placing.
• Emptying the whole board gives a 300-point bonus.
• On a computer you can click a block, then click the grid, or use keys 1 to 3 to pick, arrows to move and Enter to place.
