Bolt Out: a nuts and bolts puzzle in the workshop
Bolt Out is a nuts and bolts puzzle on a workshop pegboard: wooden planks are held up by colored screws, and you take the whole build apart. Each screw flies into the open toolbox of its color, but if no box for that color is open it waits in a small tray. Choose the order well, because a full tray ends the level.

How to play
- Tap a screw to unscrew it; it spins out and flies into the open toolbox of its color.
- Fill a toolbox with three screws and it snaps shut and rolls away while the next color rolls in.
- Screws with no open box go to the tray, which holds 5 screws, or 4 from level 101.
- Remember that screws under a plank cannot be reached until that plank swings away or falls.
- Pull every screw to clear the build; finish without helpers for three stars.
What it exercises
Like any nut and bolt game, this workshop puzzle is about sequence: the right screws, at the right time.
Planning ahead
A NEXT preview shows which toolbox color comes after the current one, and you plan which screws to free now so they have somewhere to go.
Spatial reasoning
Planks overlap in layers and swing on their last screw with real physics, so you picture what will be uncovered before you pull.
Working within limits
The tray is small, so every screw that cannot go into a box uses up space you might need later.
Tips
- Before each tap, ask whether that screw has an open box. If not, it costs a tray slot.
- Clear the top planks first. Screws hidden underneath are stuck until the plank above them is gone.
- Each color also has its own symbol, such as a dot, square or star, so you can tell screws apart at a glance.
- Every level gives 3 undos, 1 extra tray slot and 1 pair of pliers that pulls any screw, even a covered or locked one; each use costs a star.
- Padlocked screws open once the screw carrying their key is out; glass planks shatter as soon as one of their screws is pulled; chained planks fall together.
- Every tenth level is a hard one where every tray slot counts.
Frequently asked questions
Can I play a nuts and bolts puzzle game online free?
Yes. Bolt Out is free, runs in your browser on phones, tablets and computers, and needs no download.
Is there a screw puzzle game with no ads?
This one. There are no ads between levels or anywhere else in the game.
Where can I find a screw puzzle solution when I get stuck?
Use the in-game helpers: Undo takes back a screw, the extra slot gives the tray one more space, and the pliers pull any single screw. Helpers cost a star, but they get you through a tough build.
Is every nuts and bolts puzzle level solvable?
Yes. All 120 levels were checked by our solver, and each one can be cleared without any helper.
What do you take apart in Bolt Out?
Everyday objects built from planks: a garden fence, a park bench, a bicycle, a bookshelf, a sailing boat, a space rocket and a pirate galleon, among others.
