Market Rush: a fast estimation game with fruit prices
Market Rush is an estimation game set at a market stall: two baskets of produce flash up, and you tap the one worth more. Every item has a price, from an apple at 1 coin to a melon at 5, so a basket with fewer items can still win. There is no time to count, so you learn to judge quantity and value at a glance.

How to play
- Check the price board: apple 1, lemon 2, carrot 3, melon 5.
- Press Open the stall and look at the baskets while they are uncovered.
- Tap the basket worth the most, or press 1, 2, 3 or the arrow keys.
- Watch the totals count up and the crown land on the richest basket.
- Keep picking until the 75-second clock runs out.
What it exercises
Market Rush works on number sense: a feel for how big a total is without adding it up item by item.
Estimation
Items are scattered so that counting is too slow; you weigh rough count against price, which is the heart of mental estimation.
Quick math judgement
Mixed prices arrive at level 3, and from then on about half the rounds are set so the basket with more items is worth less.
Keeping a rule in mind
From level 8 a half-price sticker can halve one basket, often the one that looks biggest, so you have to apply it before you choose.
Tips
- Look for the dear items first. Two melons are worth as much as ten apples.
- Do not count. A rough sense of how full each tray is, adjusted for price, is faster and usually right.
- Pick while the produce is still visible: an early pick earns up to 5 extra points, and you can still answer after the cover drops.
- A wrong pick costs 2 seconds off the clock and breaks your streak, so a short look is better than a hasty tap.
- The clock only runs while baskets are on show, so the animations between rounds do not eat into your time.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an estimation game online for free?
Market Rush is free, has no ads and runs in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer. One sprint lasts 75 seconds of play.
What are the estimation game rules?
Pick the basket whose items add up to the highest value. Totals are never tied. A correct pick scores 10 points plus a speed bonus, multiplied by your streak; three correct picks take you up a level.
Is this a math estimation game for adults too?
Yes. Early levels are gentle, but by level 10 you compare three baskets with all four prices, close totals and a short look, which is a real challenge at any age.
What is estimation in math, and how does the game use it?
Estimation means finding a close-enough answer quickly instead of an exact one. Here you estimate each basket's value, count times price, and only need to know which is largest.
How many levels does Market Rush have?
Twelve. Three baskets appear at level 6, the half-price sticker at level 8 and all four prices at level 10, while the viewing time shrinks from about 4 seconds to just over 2.
