Schulte table: find every number in order
A Schulte table is a square grid of shuffled numbers that you find and tap in order, from 1 up, as quickly as you can. Ours comes in three sizes, from a 3x3 warm-up to the classic 5x5 with numbers 1 to 25. A single round takes well under a minute once you get going.

How to play
- Choose a grid size: 3x3 Warm-up, 4x4 Standard or 5x5 Classic.
- Press Start and wait for the 3-2-1 countdown.
- Tap 1, then 2, then 3, and keep going until you reach the last number.
- Read your result: total time to a tenth of a second, mistakes, and your pace in numbers per minute.
What it exercises
The task is simple, which is exactly why it makes such a clean focus exercise.
Visual search
Each number hides among the others, so your eyes learn to sweep the grid in order instead of darting around.
Sustained attention
Losing your place for a second costs time. Holding attention on one target after another for the whole grid is the real workout.
Peripheral vision
A small dot marks the center of the grid. Experienced players keep their gaze near it and let side vision find the next number.
Tips
- Rest your eyes on the center dot and keep your head still.
- While tapping one number, already start looking for the next. That overlap saves more time than tapping faster.
- A wrong tap does not reset the run, it just adds to your mistake count, so stay calm and carry on.
- Start on 3x3 or 4x4 for a few rounds, then move to 5x5 when the smaller grids feel easy.
- Play a few runs in a row; the first one is often the slowest.
Frequently asked questions
How do you play the Schulte table?
Find the numbers in ascending order and tap each one. Numbers you have found change color, so the grid shows how far you have come. The timer stops on the last number.
What is a good Schulte table time?
Our game uses these reference times for the 5x5 grid: under 20 seconds is Elite, under 30 is Great, under 45 is Good. For 4x4 the steps are 13, 19 and 29 seconds, and for 3x3 they are 6, 9 and 14. Treat them as friendly markers, not a test.
Is this the classic Schulte table 1 to 25?
Yes. The 5x5 size, called Classic in the game, is the traditional Schulte grid with the numbers 1 to 25 in a new random order every round.
What are the benefits of a Schulte table?
It gives you a short, focused task: scan, find, tap, repeat. Many people use a few rounds as a warm-up before reading or studying, or simply as a calm way to keep the mind sharp. We do not promise any particular result.
Can I do the Schulte table online for free?
Yes. It runs in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer, costs nothing and shows no ads.
Does the game keep my best time?
It remembers your best time for each grid size while the page stays open, so you can chase it across several runs. Bests are not stored once you leave.
