Word List: a word list memory game in two quick steps
Word List is a word list memory game in two steps: first a set of words appears on screen for you to study, then they vanish and you pick them out from a bigger grid that includes words you never saw. The lists grow longer as your level rises. It is a short, focused round that fits into a coffee break.

How to play
- Log in with your free Cleverini account, open Word List and choose Single player or Multiplayer.
- Study the words on the screen. When you feel ready, tap I've memorized it to move on early.
- When the list disappears, a larger grid of words appears.
- Tap every word you remember from the first screen, leaving the new ones alone, before the timer ends.
What it exercises
A classic word memory test turned into a timed word recall game.
Short-term memory
You hold a set of unrelated words in mind for a few seconds, then retrieve them while distractor words compete for your attention.
Recognition
The second grid mixes the studied words with new ones, so you learn to tell what you really saw from what only feels familiar.
Verbal memory
Because the material is words, simple language tricks such as making a sentence or a picture from them help a lot.
Tips
- Link the words into a tiny story. "The horse carried a lamp to the river" is easier to keep than horse, lamp, river.
- Picture each word as a vivid image and place it somewhere in a room you know well.
- Say the list quietly to yourself once; hearing the words adds a second memory trace to seeing them.
- Do not rush the skip button. A second or two more of study usually saves more time than it costs.
- When unsure in the second grid, trust your first impression; overthinking tends to add false picks.
Frequently asked questions
What is a word list memory test?
It is a classic exercise where you study a list of words and then recall or recognise them. Word List turns it into a game: a short study phase, then a timed recognition round. Treat it as practice and play, not as a formal assessment of any kind.
Is Word List a free memory game with words?
Yes. It is free in the browser on phones, tablets and computers. You need a free Cleverini account, which keeps your level and lets you play against other people.
How many words do I have to remember?
It depends on your level. Early rounds use short lists, and the lists get longer as you progress.
Can I play word memory games against someone else?
Yes. In Multiplayer mode you are matched with another player and you both work through the same kind of word lists.
How can I remember a list of words faster?
Group the words, link them into a story or a mental image, and say them to yourself once. These are the same tricks memory champions use, just on a smaller scale.
