Rail Dispatch: a train switching game on a busy toy railway
Rail Dispatch is a train switching game set on a small toy railway. Colored trains roll out of a tunnel one after another, and you flip the track junctions so each one ends up at the station of the same color. Your shift lasts 90 seconds, and the network grows from three stations to six while the trains speed up.

How to play
- Press Start; the first line opens with three stations and two switches.
- Watch the NEXT indicator to see which color leaves the tunnel next.
- Tap a junction to flip it; the arrow shows which branch it now points to.
- Guide each train to the station with the same color and badge for +1 arrival.
- Keep routing until the shift ends, then compare your correct arrivals with your session best.
What it exercises
Several trains are on the move at once, so the game is mostly about where you put your eyes.
Divided attention
Two or three trains can be heading toward different junctions at the same moment, and each needs its own decision.
Route planning
On the bigger lines a train passes up to three switches. You trace the path back from the station to know how each one must be set.
Timing
A train picks its branch only when it reaches a junction, so flipping too early can send the train in front the wrong way.
Tips
- Focus on the junction the leading train will reach next, not on the whole map.
- Every color has its own badge: a circle for blue, a triangle for orange, a star for yellow, a diamond for purple, a heart for pink and a square for green. Match badges if colors blur together.
- When two trains share a stretch of track, set the switch for the first, then flip it straight back for the second.
- When a new line is about to open, the board clears first. Use that pause to study the new layout.
- Speed and departure rate rise through the whole shift, so the last 30 seconds decide most scores.
Frequently asked questions
How do you play a train switching game?
You control the points where tracks split. Trains cannot stop or turn back, so you set each junction before the train arrives and it follows whichever branch the switch points to.
How many rail lines are there?
Four, opened in order during each shift: Meadow Line (3 stations, 2 switches), River Fork (4 and 3), Hilltop Loop (5 and 4) and Grand Junction (6 stations and 5 switches).
Is Rail Dispatch a railroad switching puzzle or an arcade game?
It sits in between: a train game with a puzzle core. The track layouts are fixed puzzles you can learn, but trains keep coming in real time, so it plays like a calm arcade game of attention.
What is a good score in this train track switching game?
The end screen rates your shift by correct arrivals: 8 or more is On schedule, 15 is Smooth operator, 21 is Express dispatcher and 27 makes you Master of the rails.
Can I play the train switching game free online?
Yes. There is nothing to install and no ads; the railway loads in a browser on mobile or desktop, and your best shift is remembered until you close the page.
