Chemistry: a periodic table quiz against the clock
Chemistry is a periodic table quiz that starts with element symbols and works its way up to the numbers chemists look up. Each question names a symbol, an element or a property, and you tap the matching answer from the options before the timer runs out. All 118 elements are in the question pool, from hydrogen onwards.

How to play
- Log in with your free Cleverini account and open Chemistry.
- Pick Single player to work through the levels, or Multiplayer to quiz against another player.
- Read the question: an element symbol, an element name or a property value.
- Tap the matching answer from the options while the timer is still running.
What it exercises
Part memory game, part chemistry revision: a chemistry game that doubles as an element symbols quiz.
Memory
Linking symbols such as Fe, Na or W to their element names is pure recall, and repetition makes it stick.
Chemistry knowledge
Group questions ask whether an element is an alkali metal, a noble gas, a halogen or another family, which is how the table itself is organised.
Reasoning
For atomic weights, melting points and densities you rarely know the exact value, but you can rule options out by where the element sits on the table.
Tips
- Learn the symbols that do not follow the English name first: Na (sodium), K (potassium), Fe (iron), Ag (silver), Au (gold), Pb (lead) and W (tungsten).
- For electron configuration questions, count the electrons. In shorthand such as [Ne]3s1, add the atomic number of the noble gas in brackets to the electrons shown; the total is the atomic number of the element you want.
- Atomic weight grows roughly with atomic number, so a weight near 56 sits around iron and one near 200 among the heavy metals.
- Gases are extremely light for their volume and melt far below room temperature, so on density and melting point questions they rarely look like a metal.
- Density questions give you more time than the others, so use it to reason rather than guess.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a periodic table quiz with symbols?
Yes. The first level of Chemistry asks which element a given symbol stands for, which is the best place to start learning the table.
Can I play a periodic table game online for free?
Chemistry is free in the browser on phones, tablets and computers. It requires a free Cleverini account so your level is saved and you can challenge other players.
What kinds of questions does the chemistry quiz ask?
Six kinds: the element behind a symbol, an element's group, the element with a given electron configuration, atomic weight, melting point and density. Higher levels bring in the harder kinds.
Is this a good periodic table game to memorize elements?
It works well for that. Short timed rounds with instant feedback are a practical way to revise symbols and groups, whether for school or for fun.
Does it cover all 118 elements?
Yes. The question pool is built from data on every element, from hydrogen to oganesson.
