Twin Cards: a memory card game with real playing cards
Twin Cards is a memory card game played with a deck of familiar playing cards. Twelve cards, six matching pairs, are shown face up for about four seconds and then turned face down. Your job is to remember where each one lies and turn over the twins.

How to play
- Study the twelve cards while they are face up.
- When they flip face down, tap one card to turn it over.
- Tap a second card. If it is the twin of the first, the pair stays open; if not, both turn back.
- Keep going until every pair is found, making as few wrong guesses as possible.
What it exercises
This is the classic pairs game, a concentration game with a short look at the whole board before it starts.
Visual memory
In about four seconds you try to store the positions of six pairs. It pays to look for patterns, like two kings in the same row.
Attention to detail
The deck mixes suits and ranks, so a five of spades and a five of clubs are not twins. You need to note both.
Concentration
Every miss shows you two more cards. Remembering those, instead of guessing again, is what keeps a round short.
Tips
- Do not try to memorize all twelve cards at once. Lock in two or three pairs during the preview, then use your turns for the rest.
- Say the cards to yourself by position: top left, queen of hearts.
- When a guess misses, the two cards you saw are now known. Use that information on your very next turn.
- Start with a card you are sure of, then search for its twin.
- In multiplayer, watch your opponent's misses too; every card they turn over is a free look for you.
Frequently asked questions
How do you play a memory card game?
All cards are laid face down and you turn over two per turn. A matching pair stays face up, and a non-matching pair is turned back. The round ends when all pairs are found.
Is there a memory card game online free for adults?
Twin Cards is free and ad-free and runs in a browser on phones and computers. It is designed for adults and teens, and you play with a free Cleverini account.
What are the rules of the matching card game here?
A match is two identical cards, same rank and same suit. The board holds twelve cards, so there are six pairs to find in each round.
Can I play a matching card game against someone?
Yes. Besides single player, Twin Cards has a multiplayer mode where you take turns with another player on the same board.
Is this card matching game good for memory?
It gives your short-term visual memory a steady workout in a few minutes. It is a game, though, and we do not claim it changes your memory in any lasting way.
