Number Drop: a number merge puzzle with 100 levels
Number Drop is a number merge puzzle where you drop blocks into five columns and equal numbers that touch combine into one block worth double. One merge can set off the next, so a well-placed 4 may end as a 32. Play 100 goal-based levels or switch to Endless mode and see how high you can build.

How to play
- Choose a column; the block falls to the lowest free spot in it.
- Let equal blocks touch, beside or below each other, so they merge into one block of twice the value.
- Check the NEXT block and plan where both blocks should go.
- Meet the level goal, such as building a target number, merging a set number of times or bringing every column under the goal line, before you run out of drops.
- Avoid filling the board: a full column only accepts a block that matches its top.
What it exercises
This drop and merge game is mostly about thinking one or two moves ahead.
Planning
Because a block that lands next to two equal neighbours merges with both at once, the best drop is often the one that sets up a chain, not the one that merges right away.
Number sense
You work with powers of two all game, 2, 4, 8, 16 and up, and quickly learn which pairs lead toward the value a goal asks for.
Keeping calm under limits
Every level gives a fixed number of drops, and a jammed board ends the run, so you balance ambition against safety.
Tips
- When you merge blocks, keep your highest one in a corner column and build toward it, so big merges do not happen in the middle of the board.
- Aim before you drop: the preview shows where the block will land, which merges it will make and whether a column is full.
- Ice blocks arrive at level 21. They never merge, but a merge in the cell next to one thaws it.
- Fewer drops mean more stars, and every drop you have left at the end adds 25 points to the level score.
- Every seventh level, starting at level 10, is a gentler breather, a good moment to collect three stars.
- On a keyboard, aim with the left and right arrows or the keys 1 to 5 and drop with Enter, Space or the down arrow.
Frequently asked questions
Can I play a number merge game online for free?
Yes. Number Drop runs in your browser on any device, costs nothing and shows no ads.
What is a good number merge game strategy?
Keep the columns low, store large blocks along one side, and drop small blocks where they can merge more than once in a row. Looking at the NEXT block before each drop prevents most jams.
How is this drop merge number puzzle different from sliding number games?
Nothing slides here. You choose a column, the block falls straight down, and merges can happen sideways as well as downward, with chains following automatically.
Is there an online number merge game with no goals, just a high score?
Endless mode is exactly that: no goal and no drop limit, only a board that slowly fills while you chase your session best.
Are all 100 levels solvable?
Yes. Each level was played through by our own solver bot within its drop limit before release, and the star targets are set from bot runs too.
